Public speaking is art of giving power to words-to influence , inspire and transform lives. These words by Dirish show the power public speaking gives to a person. Public speaking also known as oratory is a presentation given live before the  audience. Public speaking is viewed as a form of speaking between an audience and the speaker. Down the ages, humans bestowed great respect to consecutive speakers in almost all walks of life. From education to field of politics, good speakers have always been treasured for their efforts and ability to motivate people towards the right way of life. Their words have  touched the lives of millions of people and stimulated them to go out and turn dreams into reality. Public speaking is not endowed as a talent by birth but its developed through consistent practices  and right guidance. Public speaking as a hobby helps us to improve communication skills and helps to build confidence, self esteem and social connections. It is one of the skill that one will use today as well in future. It gives us confidence to present our thoughts and ideas in front of people.

Qualifications and Institutes

There is no specific qualification required to be a public speaker, just zeal and confidence to speak and oratory skills. Almost all management schools and institutes engaged in field of personality development and personal grooming, impart training in various skills needed to be a effective public speaker, some other institutes like PEP Talk India, Indian Academy of Public Speaking, Institute of Public speaking. Their branches  are present In cities like Mumbai, Pune and Delhi where they offer certified public speaking courses in both online and offline format.

Careers:

Teacher-  For a college professor or school teacher, it is important to have par excellent speaking skills so that listeners understand the concepts easily. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. Amartya Sen, C.K.Prahalad  are some prominent examples of teachers who with their great public speaking skills resonated with the hearts and minds of many young Indians and inspired them to do what they dream of.

Politician- If you envision yourself to be heard globally just like Barack Obama, Indira Gandhi, then you should take the opportunity to become a politician and make world listen to your voice. Your voice will become a promise for the brighter future of nation and make the voice turn into reality to raise bar of nationin the world.

Motivational speaker:  As a profession  this is one platform where you will feel the pleasure of helping people rise above their limitations and believing in themselves. Robin Sharma,  Sandeep Maheshwari , Shiv Khera are some great motivational speakers and just mention of their names increases our energy and we start feeling motivated.  Such is power of words.

Lawyer-  As a speaker you will be able to make your  mark  in the lives of people who are victims of faulty law and order. For those whose voice remains unheard you will be a messiah baring a torch fighting for justice on their behalf. Public speakers’ earnings vary from 50,000 to 5 lakh per month. The point is whichever career  you want to pursue public speaking will always help you, it increases our confidence and self esteem .For presentation in office even a CA and Engineer needs public speaking skills. Public speaking also helps to develop our leadership and communication skills, which are very helpful for our career advancement. Public speaking helps us to grow our personality and help us to become our best versions. Confessions of Public speaker by Scott Berkun, Talk like TED, by  Carmine Gallo, Steal the show and speak up are some books which help us to groom public speaker in us and get rid of Glossophobia (the fear of public speaking).  Speaking offers great opportunities for us to grow ourselves and develop our career and get our dream job. As said by John F Kennedy, “ Public speaking is the art of diluting a 2 minute idea into a 2 hour vocabulary.”
