When I read the title of this essay competition, I actually was in confusion regarding telling about this person. The confusion here was not that who should be the person I choose or who should I not, but was that person is the first best or the second best? After a long brainstorming to whether mention about this person or not, I decided to leave it to my readers to decide whether this was this person best ‘enough’ or well… we will see.

So, like many girls, I was also one of those very ambitious girls, who belonged to a small town.  I was great in academics and luckily found a seat in one of the leading institutions of the nation. However, this was not pretty much my background. I had a complicated family, where if I would say that we were simply a bunch of misfits caught by misfortune. To tell u more about this would be such a shame if you would actually not be able to read more about this mystery person who actually inspired me. But long story short. He is my best friend.

So, I know some of you would drop the reading thinking it would be the same old-time story of a girl and her best friend, dreaming and inspiring each other of being together in a La La Land and a happy ending. But, in my story, this was just not the case. Well, to begin with, I and my best friend met in the second year of college. It was not a cliché love story of two friends that they met and knew that oh! She is the one. Naah! It wasn’t anything like that. We met. We saw. We fought. Yes! This was exactly how it began. We were not so much in each other’s good books in the beginning, but as time passed, I realised that he was not only the best person to share my non-veg bucket but eventually had good humour sense too. He was one of those people, who was raised in completely opposite way as most of us were raised. He was born in a small town yet a nice loving warm family. People there were kind and naïve. His parents were always encouraging, his mother was cool and his dad had the heart of an elephant. His social service and down to earth attitude were pretty much genetic and my friend was a live proof of that. He always used to tell me and our other friends that he always looks people as an ‘individual’, as someone who are simply never wrong but sometimes caught in wrong situations. He treated everyone with respect and the most inspiring attitude of his was to never gave up.

We all know that “not to give up” is the most rated line of all times. But what nobody tells us that there is a lot behind the feeling of failure which is difficult to go through. Especially when the most immediate environment that is our family isn’t that supportive. My friend was always inspiring in different ways. I remember seeing him through failure and the way he was carried himself was extremely extraordinary. He was one of those people who gave his or her best. He always says that it is really important to treat yourself with respect, with integrity, with love. Because unless you love yourself you cannot love anyone in the world. it was such a great thing that he mentioned that taught me to keep myself first and to let go of the negative emotions and failures. I am really grateful to have him in my life. Because indeed that is one special gift I will ever receive.

My best friend is the best of all the things that have happened to me because it was because of him I got to understand how important it is to live love and laugh. The value for best of moments in my life and the value for some of the worst to has been taught by him to me! He knows how to lighten up my day and to fight the world against me. I know, that sounds pretty much like a cliché movie story?! Right? But it is what it is. He has always supported me to the worst and to the best of times. I was always mediocre but it was definitely a brighter one like him that understood the value of someone like me and taught me to live a life of love and fun. And so, to end this lovely essay about the world’s best bestest friend hahaha! I would just say that if I win and you read this, I know you will come back to me after that ugly fight. I always knew you were the one. Really I miss you more than anyone in these times, just.. maybe once try to contact me in any way possible. Because I miss you and I love you. Will always do. Goodbye.
