SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN

A Key to Success

INTRODUCTION

India is a vast country with its rich culture and varied heritage. Prosperity , justice , liberty , unity , equality , and humanity. And patriotism , loyalty and vivid culture is famous for all these qualities and its tradition all over the world. India is still a developing country. For a country to develop , one of the significant and major key is EDUCATION. Illiteracy gives birth to poverty, unemployement, corruptions, social evils like child labour, sati system, female foeticide and many more. So education is important for everyone. As a result, Indian former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee pioneered a government programme for the welfare of every citizen of India called ‘SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN’.

ABOUT

The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) or the Education for All Movement is a government programme. It aims to educate each and every student of age 6 to 14 years. This program, pioneered by Atal Ji, focuses on providing free and compulsory Elementary education. It provides education to students of age 6 to 14 years irrespective of their caste, creed, colour, race, religion, family, or else. It not only provides literary education but also provides books, libraries, music and dance classes, and art and craft classes. Also provides free uniforms, toilets and proper sanitary, medical room, games classes, school bags, stationery items, lunch, and many more at free of cost.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan aims to provide education in rural areas, village areas, desert areas and places that doesn’t have proper education facilities. Government appoints teachers’ by checking their eligibility.  They teaches the student as well as they can according to their knowledge, skills, way of teaching, capability and experience. SSA guarantees that every student is  treated equally. Students are taught humanity, equality and justice

THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION ACT

The Right to Education act or the RTE was enacted on 4th August 2009 by the constitution of India. However it came into force on 1st April 2010. It states that each and every student of age 6 to 14 years must receive free and compulsory Universal Elementary education. It was constituted in Article 21A of the Indian Constitution. With this step, India became one of the 135 countries to provide free and compulsory education to students of age 6 to 14 years.

Because of this act (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan), there is a lot of improvement in the number of illiterate people in India. It supports peaceful and environment friendly education. Bridges social, gender, political, regional, religional, and racial gaps between each and every student. It teaches spiritual and natural realm of life. Specifies the duties and responsibilities of government , authorities and parents. It ensures that no mental harrassement or physical punishment should be given. Also states that all teachers are well qualified and mastered on particular subject.

SCHOOL CHALE HUM SONG INSPIRATION

The most popular and famous song ‘School Chale Hum’ written in hindi language by Mehboob have rocked the country with its wonderful video and terrible music. It shows how children takes interest in going to school. It influences and motivates students by waking up at early morning and getting ready to go to school. The film was produced to spread the message and awareness of ‘Education for All’. It inspires students to take keen interest in education.

DEMERITS OF SSA

There is not a single disadvantage of this act i.e. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. But several modifications are needed. There is no proper management. Officials are misusing the funds in another direction or path. Smooth running is not that good of this act.

MY POINT OF VIEW

  • There are a lot of problems and corruptions all over the world. India is a beautiful country but has the most corruption rate. Either it be discrimination, poverty, child labour, female foeticide, religious matters, pollution, unemployment, or anything else , India always stands first for these evil practises. When it comes to illiteracy , Indian government have done a lot. For example , providing free and compulsory education.
  • Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is one of those acts which provides free and compulsory education to children of age 6 to 14 years old. It converts and transforms children to students. A lot of financial helps are still going on for the betterment of these illiterate children. One of the major reason for illiteracy is poverty. Poverty in India has strucked over a lot of people especially those who live in rural areas.
  • Many NGOs are also helping childrens’ to be educated. They are making them familiar to this beautiful world. Universal Elementary Education is provided through this act. But after achieving this education, childrens’ are forced to do work and labour at low wages. According to me, government should also think for the secondary education of children. Every parent or guardian must give education benefits to their lovely ones. Even if they eat one chapati less from their food but must educate their lovely ones.
