Dil Bechara is a 2020 Bollywood romantic-tragedy movie produced by Fox Star Studios and directed by Mukesh Chhabra in his directorial debut. The movie is based on 2012 novel, “The Fault in Our Stars” written by John Green.
The film stars Emmanuel Rajkumar Junior aka Manny played by late actor Sushant Singh Rajput suffering from osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and Kizie Basu played by newcomer Sanjana Sanghi as thryoid cancer patient. Both meet at a Cancer Rehabilitation Centre and eventually become good friends. At first she felt very annoyed due to his troublesome and childish behaviour. But later she becomes so attached to him that she can’t even think of a life without him. Finally they express their feelings for each other and fall in love. All seemed well but destiny had other plans for them. Suddenly Manny’s health deteriorates and he tells Kizie that his cancer is now terminal and he will soon die. But they stand together and decide to face the fate bravely.
Soon Manny dies but leaves behind an important message that, Life is short and destiny is uncertain, so one should cherish every moment of life and live life to the fullest. Dil Bechara is not only my favourite movie but it created history by attracting large number of audience around the world who gave it an overwhelming response on an OTT platform. Dil Bechara was the last film of late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput who died in a mysterious circumstances. Most of the viewers were grief stricken and emotional after watching the final scenes of the movie. Some records broken by the movie in terms of viewership and rating are as follows:-

1.) Viewership record

The audience were eager to watch the movie in theatres since it’s announcement. But unfortunately due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic strict rules and regulations like social distancing and lockdown were imposed. So it was released in on Disney+ Hotstar which is an OTT platform. The movie was made available for free viewing for both subscribers as well as non- subscribers , to pay tribute to the sudden demise of the young talented star. The movie drew close to 95 million viewers within 24 hours of its release. If the views were converted to box office collection then it’s total collection in one week is approximately 950-2000 crores!

2.) Most liked trailer

It became the first ever film trailer on YouTube to gain 10 million likes and 70 million views. It also broke the record set by Avengers Infinity War and End Game after gaining 4 million likes in just 8 hours.

3.) Record breaking Internet movie Database (IMDd) ratings

The movie received an IMDb rating of 10 within 40 minutes of its release. The film later settled at 9.8 out of 10 with close to 21 thousand votes from viewers. Moreover it went on to secure the highest grade on ‘Top Rated Indian Movies’ list.
The success of film is credited to Sushant Singh Rajput’s final and memorable performance in the film.
