Once upon a time, there was a man named Simon who lived in a small town called Tuesapa. Right from his childhood days, he was not good in studies but was good in caring and helping people (charity work). But odd news about his life was, he was an imitator.
When he was in class 7, one of his teacher asked him his aim in life. After being influenced by others aim in life, he just stood and confidently said, ‘I want to become a Scientist ‘. For instance his teacher was happy and greeted him for his high ambition despite his poor studies.
During Christmas, when he went to attend church services, he saw praise and worship leaders leading the service and praising Lord with harmonious songs. Once again, he was stunned by their talent and started imitating them. So, along with his studies, he took singing class right after his school gets over. When he was in class 8, he changed his aim in life and said, ‘I want to become a singer’. Till class 10, his ambition was to be a singer and started to perform in school and in many other occasion. But unfortunately, his lack of confidence and flat voice deprived him to be a singer.
One day, when he attended a counselling program, he was once again fascinated by the good orator of the speaker. He changed his mind-set and took a decision to be an orator. So, he started taking part in many social activities to improve his talent as an orator. Unfortunately, even this time he failed. His lack of confidence behind the myriad crowd was the core reason behind his failure.
After his matriculation, he decided to join Science stream so that his aim in life to be a scientist could be possible. But unfortunately, his marks was very poor to be a science student. So finally he opted for arts stream. To his amazement he saw a multi talented guy who was not only good in studies but also good in extra curricular activities. His talent astonished and impressed many of his friends and especially many girls was behind him. So, once again the boy changed his plan and inwardly challenged that multi talented guy by offering gifts to his classmates and helping especially girls. For 3-4 months, his plan worked but unfortunately, his plan was no longer to be entertained. His true colour finally revealed after his poor marks in the half yearly exam. After failing in class 12 for 2 years, he gave up his studies and took another decision to start business. But, being in competitive world his average was the reason behind his refusal to be a businessman.
He was so depressed and thought himself for what was the reason behind his aimless life? What are the reasons behind his failure? Finally, he understood that all his entire life imitating other’s goal was the core reason behind his failure. And so sad that he died at the younger age due to depression and poverty.
What we can learn from his life is that imitating others is not the reason behind our fame and prosperity. We all are born for something special where only you can fit and solve it. If the boy did not imitated others and instead was a hardworking young man then who knows, his charity work helping people was his gift. If so then he could be a philanthropist like that of Mother Teresa.
Being who we are is what makes us prosper in life. Let’s not imitate others and let’s be who we really are.
Never Imitate Others
