As each daywantable to celebrate in our busy lives. At least, We must be grateful for them on the day which is called “KISAN DIWAS”.Kisan was is celebrated on December 23 which is the birth anniversary of the Fifth Prime Minister of India CHAUDHARY CHARAN SINGH annually across the country. This day is also known as Farmer’s day.
SUBJECT :
Farmers have been at the forefront of building our country. The agricultural community continue to selflessly strive to produce everything, from the food we eat to the raw materials we buy.
But we didn’t even make them eat happily. Many protests, rallies are going on in many parts of the country over the gov. We must be of the fact that to convert India from a developing country to a developed country, definitely farmers should be live happily. Government should implement policies for the benefit of farmers.
WHY KISAN DIWAS IS BEING CELEBRATED?
The contribution of farmers in our everyday life and economy is very high. To honour the work that they put into making sure that there is enough food for everyone in the country, December 23 is observed as the Kisan Diwas or Farmers’ Day in India.
WHY HIS BIRTHDAY IS CELEBRATED AS KISAN DIWAS ??
CHOUDARY CHARAN SINGH had come up with many farmer-friendly policies and had also worked a lot for the welfare of farmers. C Chaudhary Charan Singh introduced several schemes for the farmers in his short stint as Prime Minister.
He was one of the pioneers to focus on Indian villages as a whole and paved the way for Revolutionary Land Reform laws. He made many policies for the lives of farmers.
Some are :
* He introduced pro-farmer bills like the Agricultural Produce Market Bill in the Assembly in 1939
* In 1939, he introduced the dept redemption bill which sought to provide relief to peasants from money lenders.
* In April 1939, he drafted a land utilisation bill that had the abolition of the landlord system in UP at its core.
The All India Congress working committee at its meeting in Calcutta approved the Charan Singh Congress Manifesto draft on agriculture and land, which ensured the abolition of the landlord system.
* He served as the Agriculture minister in 1952 and abolished the zamindari system in 1953 and many more…
Due to his unlimited efforts to change the lives of farmers…In 2001, the government decided to recognise Choudhary Charan Singh’s contribution to the agriculture sector and welfare of farmers by celebrating his birth anniversary as Kisan Diwas.
ONE REAL STORY SHOWING CHARAN JI’S RESPECT ON FARMERS :
This incident happened in 1979. It will be approximately six o’clock in the evening.
A farmer came to the Usarahar police station in the Etawah district with very dirty clothes. His face, however, was very bright. Not a single police officer was paying attention to the farmer. Maybe he wants to file a complaint. He waited there so long and no one even looking at him ..Then he went and asked policemen to complain.
When police asked him what to report, he said, “My bull has been stolen and I want to report it.”.Looking at the farmer’s overall attire, the police got angry at him and started questioning him. ‘How did the bull get stolen? Couldn’t you handle it? ‘ What were you doing?…. Such questions were raised by the police.
The poor farmer was tired of answering so many questions and begged for help. However, the police refused to complain. The farmer bowed his head and started walking away.
As he approached the gate of the police station, he stopped, as a policeman shouted at the farmer from behind, He looked back. The police approached him and said that if he will pay anything, he will complain. The police then agreed to take a bribe of Rs 35(huge value on those days) from the farmer and lodge a complaint.
After writing the complaint, police asked the farmer, whether fingerprint or signature? But the farmer didn’t give any reply.p police placed both the box on the table. The farmer took both and the police didn’t understand why the farmer did so..!
The farmer signed his name “Chaudhary Charan Singh” and took a seal from his pocket and stamped “Prime Minister, Government of India”. The police were in shock and the whole policemen were in tension because that farmer was the Prime Minister of the country and the popular leader of the farmers, Chaudhary Charan Singh!
When it was learned that the police were not taking complaints from Thane farmers, Charan Singh had come to complain purpose. Charan Singh had immediately suspended the entire police station for all this and obstruction of the farmers.
Such a Prime Minister and such a farmer leader are unlikely to happen again !!
WHAT WE HAVE TO DO FOR FARMERS?
* As students are the future of the country, the government should start including more info about farming methods and farmers in children’s books.
* Government should make farmers aware of the new technologies and implementations in farming and also they should be taught with new fertilizers etc.
* As we are hearing from the young minds either doctor or engineer. Teachers should teach students the importance of farmers..so that we can avoid seeing farmers in museums.
* Everyone should start helping farmers at least once a week or month.
* As they have no holidays or leave and they have to work throughout, We should help them in their works on this Kisan was to make them feel happy and special.
* Government should implement schemes and benefits for the farmers from land to pesticides and so on.
* Rather than celebrating and spending money wasted, All should try to help farmer’s children regarding their education.
* We have to take responsibility for teaching farmers on organic farming so that their health will be less prone to illness due to pesticides and chemicals.
* Government should recognize their hard work and money should be paid equally with their amount of work without any disturbances.
* Also as it is the technology period, We should spread the importance of farmers as much as we can through Social Media.
* Maybe speeches aren’t effective and may be felt as bored, so the directors of cine industry should also make films about farmers so that it reaches to all and it may bring awareness at least in few people.
Farmers are the foundation of our country, and any law which goes against their interests goes against our democratic republic………KISAN DIWAS also serves as a perfect reminder for all of us to thank farmers, who are the primary source of our soulful meals. We have to be aware of the fact that farmers are the big support for Indian development and economy.
Whatever may be the situation, we have to be always thankful to farmers as any person needs money and all needs money, definitely for their food and that food directly or indirectly given by the farmer..without them, We have to pass our day with zero intakes.
JAI JAWAN ..JAI KISAN
