Human beings are the only existence on the blue planet who are blessed with the brain along with the body. It is this which gives them the crown of creation. Both physical and mental aptitude is important for a person’s well-being. The mind is not as subject to aging as the body. The mental ability of humans not only increases with age but makes them more mature, wiser, knowledgeable, and experienced. People come to a wise person for advice, counseling, suggestions, recommendations, and guidance. To be able to guide, inspire, motivate, encourage, influence one should be optimistic, cheerful, confident, happy, and hopeful in one’s life. Caring about oneself and others around us is fundamental to our happiness. Living life mindfully that is to be aware of what is right and what is wrong, to be able to raise voice and opinions, to show kindness, generosity, empathy will make us happy, satisfied, pleased, contented, proud, fulfilled, and gratified.

The International Day of Happiness celebrated on 20th March annually to create a favorable, powerful environment for our welfare was announced by the General Assembly of the United Nations. The main aim to celebrate this day is to make people aware that happiness is one of the best gifts to offer someone or to enjoy oneself. People should be taught to find space in moments of anxiety and distress. They should be offered practical strategies to calm anxious minds, transform negative emotions and facilitate greater self–acceptance, freedom, and inner peace.

Happiness is a feeling that can be achieved through the satisfaction of mind and soul. Happiness and sadness are linked together. Life is incomplete without it. Uniformity, consistency is never maintained and should not be. Things like stress, anxiety, fear, failure, arguments, laziness, sleeplessness can cause sadness.

To overcome these we can try to study and practice relaxation techniques. We can strive harder to grasp, attain whatever we want. This will enrich our workmanship, skills, expertise and make us happy. Regular sleep cycles can be maintained by meditation, a nutritious diet, journaling, reading, and being happy. Arguments can be avoided through compromise, by being composed, or by becoming as deaf as a post.

Laziness can be escaped by exercising, meditating, creating a docket. By continuing a systematic, well-organized, unvarying time – table we can help ourselves with better understanding, flexible self-time, free mental space without clutter and burden.

We face big challenges in the world right now. It is easy to focus on fear and worry. It is heartbreaking to see the human race struggling to survive every second, people getting unemployed, huge scarcity of pharmacy.

Such things are heart-wrenching, distressing, grievous, disturbing, pitiful. We could try to shift our attention to appreciate more of the good things that happen every day. Even on a tough, competitive day, there is something to be thankful for, obliged for. We can all have moments of being happy, it could be by listening to a song we like, getting immersed in a hobby we love, or acknowledging the beauty of nature.

These experiences involve fully focusing on the present moment, rather than dwelling in the past or worrying about the future. Good relations are important for our health. Studies show that people with supportive relationships have better overall health and happier moods, even when they were in physical pain.

All relationships have challenges and we cannot change other people! However, we can choose how we respond. Speaking kindly to yourself (also called compassionate self-talk) will enhance our confidence, resilience, and self–awareness.

It is okay not to be okay! Everyone faces adversity in their lives and it is completely normal. When faced with a difficult situation we have the choice of how to respond. We can let it bring us down or we can do something to help us overcome it.

This is called resilience. A problem shared is a problem halved. Reframe the situation. Look for a way to see this as a window of opportunity and respond constructively to it to benefit from it. Shift your perspective by doing something that brings you joy like doodling, singing, dancing. Feeling like you are part of something bigger than yourself, brings a sense of meaning to life.

Collecting and making a collage of photos of loved ones, do something to contribute to a cause you care about, spending time in a place that inspires you, volunteering your time for a good cause can bring happiness to you and others around.

Remember we can bounce back from the most difficult of difficult situations, provided we keep our nerves cool with the thirst for joy and happiness. Nothing and nothing should be allowed to quench and satiate this thirst. The hunt for happiness should be perpetual.
