Energy generation from waste

Within these past years, we the humans have made extraordinary discoveries that had made our life easier. However, as more and more resources we are using, we are generating waste that is polluting our ecosystem and the resources that we are using is available to us at limited quantity.

With a rising population and their rising needs, it becomes relevant to generate energy and to protect our environment for future. And this can be done by generating energy from waste, cause both renewable and non-renewable resources have certain limitations. If we generate energy, it will become helpful for environment conservation along with waste management.
Many countries like USA, Sweden, Singapore are generating electricity, diesel and hydrogen from processing waste. By using methods like Gasification and incineration, syngas is produced that is used for diesel, hydrogen and to generate electricity, and if the organic waste combusted alone, then the syngas that it generates is also used for fertilizers also, but the waste that is used for processing is moisture free.
And India is facing a huge challenge for waste management because the waste that India produces is not suitable for gasification due to its moisture that is present in the waste and the reason behind is dumping dry and wet waste together. As the waste contains moisture, more energy is needed to burn it and that become more expensive.
• Some measures for separating dry and wet waste:-
1. Separation of wet and dry waste: –
For waste management t,first step is to frame policy that enables people to follow the general rules of waste dumping by separation of waste collecting garbage bins in the households.
If households started to collect the waste of their house in separate garbage bin labels as “wet” and “dry” waste, then the problem of moisture contain waste can be solved. And the advantage is that no formal education is needed for acknowledging the difference between wet and dry waste and it is economically cheap for household also.

2. Domestic Biogas Subsidies:-
The Government should encourage the domestic Biogas plant to household by providing subsidies. This measure can be helpful for both waste management and cooking gas generated from organic waste.

3. Privatization of waste management units:-
Now the second step of waste management is privatization of dumping collecting units. Ussally waste is collected by Municipal Bodies, and here is where mis-management took place.

The government bodies are not as effectively managed as private bodies. Usually we observe that people throw their waste collectively along with wet and dry wastes and there is no punishment for this act.

So, according to my consequences, private companies for collecting waste should be promoted. By providing them subsidies on special garbage trucks. This will not only help to manage dry and wet waste, but also will provide employment to mass.

If waste is managed properly, then we can achieve the dream of clean India, generate energy and together will create sustained India, that is free from waste and pollution. We all need to contribute for this beautiful dream.
