Diwali is one of the most important and biggest festivals of India. Diwali falls in the month of October and November. It is celebrated as the victory of Good over evil. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy across the country. It is also known as the festival of Lights as there are lights, candles and diyas everywhere. Diwali is celebrated because on this day Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya along with his brother Lakshman and wife Sita after 14 years of exile.
It is believed that when Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya, the people celebrated his return with dances and lighted the whole city with Diyas. Since that day, Diwali is celebrated every year. Diwali is a Festival of 5 days namely Dhanteras, Naraka Chaturdasi( also known as Choti Diwali), Lakshmi Puja( also known as Diwali), Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. People buy new things on Dhanteras. On the second day, People light Diyas on the Main gates and clean and decorate their houses. On the third day, People greet their relatives and friends with their best wishes, people make sweet dishes at their homes .
At night people worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi and take the blessings of elders. Children burst crackers and enjoy themselves with their friends. ladies keep diyas at their neighbour’s house. Whether they are children or elders everyone loves this festival.
The festival of Diwali is a new beginning life. The festival of Diwali teaches us many lessons in life as we should always follow the right path, and love one another. we not burn less crackers on Diwali and celebrate it in our traditional way which is the better way .
