Comparison between Present India vs India of My Dreams

The present situation of India is incredibly critical for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic and it has changed the way we live and work. This nation is more liable to epidemics due to its high population density, poor and unequal healthcare facilities, poor sanitation facilities in slums, and rapid growing internal migration. The Indian government imposed a lockdown to tackle this outbreak. But the lockdown has also meant the loss of uncountable jobs belonging to daily laborers and unorganized sector workers—a large proportion of whom are migrant workers. The lockdown has also led to losses of several businesses and hence many people have lost their jobs. And people who still have jobs were paid less. Thus the circumstances directly invite unemployment to extend.

Maintaining social distance among the people has become the new norm which leads to psychological distance also. Visitors aren’t any more welcome anywhere. Children are neither longer required to travel to high school, nor are adults to their workplaces. Education, as an example, is halted a few times but cannot be stopped completely. This is often why schools, colleges, universities, and offices have resorted to digital platforms to impart training and lessons rather than doing them face to face. Together with these plenties of troubles, the Indian government is trying hard to prevent further negative impacts on the Indian economy by increasing the pace of vaccination.

Not only this epidemic problem, but current India is also facing various forms of unimaginable difficulties and activities. India, my motherland, bordered by the mighty Himalayas and inundated by the holy river Ganga and other rivers was designated by Atul  Prasad Sen as “Nana Vasha Nana Mot Nana Paridhan / Bibidher Majhe Dakho Milan o Mohan” for its unity in diversity among different cultures, religions, and creeds. But present India has only diversity, not unity. Corruption, violence, and violation of laws are a few of the major situations that hinder the expansion of growth of our nation. Because of this, employment opportunities became limited. Besides, the rate of poverty and beggary, criminal activities, income inequality, deterioration of education level, rate of illiteracy, and much more are at peak in present India. Though after independence, a lot of progress has been made in the field of basic industries, agriculture, science and technology, traffic and telecommunications, international exchange of rupees, and so on but all don’t seem able to make us proud enough. So I aspire to see that this 7th largest country within the world with many advanced developments in science and technology may regain its glorious past, where people should live up to the expectations of our great national idols like Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, our freedom fighters and lots of more and that is India of my dreams.

Many of us have a dream to see India as a nation of corruption and violence-free where all people should be self-sufficient likewise as employed in every stage of life. Besides, abolishment of beggary, fulfillment of basic needs, higher standard of living, true progress in science and technology, industrialization, greater employment opportunities, elimination of illiteracy, women empowerment, income equality, higher rate of GDP, the ruin of criminal operations, the best education opportunities and much more like these are prime desires of us.

But along with the above-mentioned desires, my dreams are something more.

In India of my dreams, firstly, I wish we must be released from this pandemic and everyone will come to a standard quality of life as before. All of us should get vaccinated as soon as possible and there is a desire for more funding, the most effective infrastructures and equipment, human resources in the healthcare industry. Though e-learning and work-from-home became more popular and comfortable to students and workers, still they must attend their institutions and workplaces for physical interaction with others. The jobless people get engaged in new employments that improve the pace of abolishment of beggary and poverty in India.  Our economy may become one of the largest economies in the world.

Secondly, I wish we must always be enriched with our old heritage and culture. The newer generation wants to be habituated with western dresses, songs, food, books, culture eliminating our accomplishments. People like Rabindra Sangeet in an exceeding flavor of la- re- lappa music. Indian traditional dress like Saree isn’t our cup of tea. Maximum people haven’t got an interest in knowing about our two epics Ramayana and Mahabharat.  So I wish we must always delightfully welcome western and other customs but shouldn’t divorce our traditions having relevance to our Indian genre.

Thirdly, this year (2021) on the occasion of Swamiji’s birth ceremony, many people have just literally abused and shown huge disrespect to this great man on social media. What’s this? Is that this India where Swamiji was born and wanted us to light through his maxim? Next Vidyasagar wished young girls would be educated and wouldn’t be within the trap of early marriage. But now young girls themselves don’t have any aim to be engaged in pedagogy. These are nothing but unfortunate that we couldn’t be an appropriate generation to hold their thoughts. So I’ve got a dream of India where people can realize in their hearts that WHO are our great national idols and show esteem similarly as like to them.

Fourthly, The India of my dreams should be at an apex in fine arts, handcrafts, literature, poetry, sculpture, dance, drama, theater, music, and every one artist should be valued regardless of rich and poor. From a lower and middle-class family, a boy or girl cannot easily pursue a career supporting their talents and creativeness. They’re forcefully or unwillingly treated to achieve success only in earning a career. Also, a painter or a dancer, or a singer isn’t usually honored if they’re unable to realize commercial prosperity in their career. So my desire is for each people may get opportunities to precise their god-gifted talents and be esteemed within the eye of society.

Fifthly, nowadays, doctors and teachers suffer from disrespect and dishonor of individuals. They do not get their deserved esteem from society. People don’t hesitate to harm a doctor even when he or she isn’t answerable for some unfortunate incidents. And teachers aren’t any less disrespected. I dream of an India where doctors and teachers would do justice to their noble professions and regain their lost respect.

Sixthly, both caste and gender discrimination are very prominent in every field in India. People aren’t free from discrimination supported by caste, creed, and religion. Various dogmatic and separatist groups are instigating people to spread hatred among people and propagate wrongdoing against others’ religions. Aside from this, in some parts of India, women must fight constantly with many obstacles to create their place in society. Even the birth of a girl remains considered a curse in many villages of India. We people don’t remember the words of Swamiji “O India! Forget not that the lower classes, the ignorant, the poor, the illiterate, the cobbler, the sweeper, are thy flesh and blood, thy brothers… I’m an Indian, every Indian is my brother.” I dream of such a country where people would follow the footsteps of Swamiji and there’ll be no discrimination of any kind.

Seventhly, Pollution has always been an ongoing problem in most parts of India. It affects the standard of life in mysterious ways, sometimes which can’t be seen in the naked eyes. In my dream, India will be a pollution-free and environment-friendly nation. Citizens should be much aware to scale back pollution. Awareness could also be implanted through education, for instance, advertisements on televisions and articles in newspapers which are associated with topics like “How to reduce pollutions”, “The consequences of pollutions” and then on. Except this, the more the usage of vehicles, the more harmful gases are released into the air like hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxides, and sulfur dioxides which might cause serious air pollutions. Moreover, it also contributes to the increasing greenhouse effect. This pollution may be minimized when citizens practice the habit of car-pooling and therefore, the usage of conveyance like buses, trains, monorails and lots more. Also, the Indian government has a vital role to cut back on pollution by enforcing the laws of this country. The very best standards of cleanliness and hygiene should be maintained. Little changes in our habits and ways of thinking can go a protracted way in saving nature.

Lastly, but not least, there was a time when India had international dominance in Hockey. Dhyan Chand and Roop Singh the two brothers made us proud, but that was so long time back. But gradually other countries had picked up this game, developed their strategies, and are now displaying their marvelous achievements where in India that place of pride has been lost. It has not shown any remarkable performance in Olympic Games, not even a single gold medal has been won in any discipline except in shooting in Bejing Olympics. It goes to compete in the Olympics with great expectations but the whole nation is disheartened when most of the athletes are let down even to qualify for the finals. Despite being an oversized country with a large population, India has failed to make a mark in the area of sports. Lack of facilities like lack of education centers, poor infrastructure, the financial crisis of sports-aspiring families, deficiency in well efficient trainers, the existence of narrow politics is some prominent reasons for our poor performance. Though some Indian sportsmen have given excellent performances in some disciplines these don’t seem to be ready to make us proud enough. I wish the most effective opportunities and finest infrastructures would be created to draw in talented young people in the field of sports and so that India would emerge as a powerful and honored nation in the international sports arena.

In conclusion, my dream of India would come true when every other Indian would dream of a better, brighter, and bold India and we will be capable to overcome the current situation of India.
