- We all know that America is a democratic, independent country. It is the most powerful country in the world. There is no discrimination there based on colour, caste, and work. But before a few centuries, America had a civil war based on the economy of the south and the domestic industry-based economy of the North. The issues which divided them were: –
- American Tax policy
- The Attitude towards slavery.
- In 18 century, America was divided into two political divisions is North and South. The northern states were most industrialized, and the southern states were agriculturalists. The people of northern states were mainly engaged in manufacturing things in their industries. Whereas the people of southern states were engaged in the cultivation of cotton with the help of slave labour. As there were two political divisions so they had different ideas for the rules and regulations of their area. The northern states wanted a republic type of government for a uniform system. But southern states wanted more people to become their slaves.
- After the independence of America on 4 July 1776there was slavery was there in all states but later slavery was not there in north-west states and in the south also it was decreasing but, due to the industrial revolution in England, the demand for cotton was very much so, the need of slave labours in southern states increased so once again slavery increased in southern states.
- After that some more new states appeared and they immersed themselves in southern and northern states. Like a new state: – Missouri immersed in southern states and California immersed in northern states. And Mississippi was counted as a ‘Free State.’
After the immerse of states in north and south elections were there held and Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16 president of America. Abraham Lincon was a person who lived in the northern states. When he became president, he got a contract that southern states want to get separated and form their own country of slaves. But Abraham Lincon denied doing so and they were not able to make their own country. So, it led to a war in 1861 to 1865 that is for 4 years that came to be known as American Civil War. In this, there was a war between northern states and southern states.
North states are industrialized so they had good weapons and they also controlled the sea through the navy. But unfortunately, Abraham died on 14 April 1865. And finally, on 26 April 1865 southern states declared. And in that 3,60,000 people were killed of North America and 2,58,000 of South America were killed. And then the whole of America got independent from slavery.
- The damage in American Civil War was very intense. And by 14 th constructional amendment in 1868, blacks were given citizenship rights.
- slavery was finally abolished by the 13th amendment of 1865 and even blacks were given fundamental rights.
