Just like Indian Television Serial Dramas, the gap between the previous generations and Gen-Z witnessed a lot of twists and turns. While some state that the envy erupting on Gen-Z’s vast development has been overwhelming on the millennials, the other half termed them ‘The Boomers’ who are conservative enough to not stand their upgradation. The cold war between the two separate columns of age sets have been quite long and consuming amongst the platforms of social media and the reasons are a lot to be listed. This study can be one of the most significant one’s as the writer belongs to Gen-Z but does not behave as one.
Misconceptions and Stereotypes
The way social media influences Gen-Z cannot be defined by words indeed. The saying that goes “Take the good on major than the bad” becomes null when it comes to the impact that this usage leaves behind. It becomes obvious to one while realizing how social media turns out to be a time consuming distraction rather than a vital source for knowledge. But on the other hand, this supports the individuality of the new age population through diversified ways like vlogging, blogging etc.. The millennials who lack knowledge about how vast this backs the financial ends of the Gen-Z call them lazy, entitled and narcissistic. This is one of those major reasons why there is hate prevailing amongst the two poles of generations.
Cultural Diversity
Living in the same country, state or city has never been the point behind the culture followed by people. Generations divided them too. The clash between them included traditional practices and beliefs on this note. Gen-Z being one of the revolutionary sets are often found revolting against the rolling down imposes in the name of tradition and culture. On the other hand, this power, maybe on the right or wrong note, started developing perspectives of God. Is he there? Is he not? Are you a devotee or an atheist? Are few of those questions used to judge new age humankind? Well believing in God is now a joke as well. But, let me leave that to perspectives with respect.
Economic and Educational Concerns
Education and Economic Stability are the two eyes of the millennial generation as of what they’ve been taught. Gen-Z again have been excelling by breaking all those beliefs and have started pursuing careers and deciding on their choices of their own. While decision making was one of those processes where all the possible sizes of noses used to protrude, Gen-Z became the Lakshmanas who break all the Surpanakhas.
This, though admirable and commendable on one hand, concerns parents and elders of the current society.
Communication Breakdown and Conflict
The advice and share of experiences by the previous generation always initiates a conflict due to the lack of patience in communication. Sometimes, the only answer that they could provide is never acceptance but “Ok Boomer”. Though the difference between the happenings and occurrences of both the seas are quite visible, the fact that experience explains tackling of stimulus is still not striking the freshly brewed beans.
Understanding the value of Gen-Z in shaping the future
The 6th essential element of life in the future filled with harmony completely depends on the firm hands of Gen-Z. Being tomorrow’s present, they’re one of those highly developing perspectives of the purpose of life. Amidst of the prevailing hatred and differences of opinion, hoping for unity against all odds is what Gen-Z guarantees the world.
