Several political leaders including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and commoners were tortured under their leadership. Names such as Sanjay Gandhi also had a dominant involvement in the origin of these exercises. As the court declared misuse of power and demanded Indira Gandhi to not get into power, the emergency with all fundamental rights withdrawn was announced. The media was held back by their expression and this period was one of those dark days of democracy.
